Firm evidence shows that formative assessment is an essential component of classroom work and that its development can raise standards of achievement. The authors know no other way of raising standers for wich such a stron prima facie case can be made. they give arguments through questions like is there room for improvement?, how can we improve formative assement?, are we serious about raising standards?
